Socratic Seminar

The Socratic Seminar today in class was a creative and enjoyable way to expand our knowledge. Some people came up with different answers to the questions that I wouldn't have thought of. One of these ideas that really stood out to me was how economic opportunity will help prevent bad parts of society such as drug dealing. People only do those things when they have no money nor job. Chadine particularly helped the dialogue forward by adding to other people's ideas or introducing new ideas that helped other people think deeper and find new things. There were several times when it lapsed into a debate when some people disagreed about and idea, but they would come to an agreement when they explained why they chose that answer. I think an important part (and the best part) of the seminar is how you can add to other people's ideas. You can come up with knew ideas throughout the seminar from interesting points that are introduced. Students often built on other ideas which I think was more important to our learning. You can even change your answer or opinion to a question when you agree with another person's point of view and get different perspectives. Overall, I benefited a lot from the Socratic Seminar.
